Communities In Schools (CIS) of Jackson County, West Virginia, plays a vital role in supporting local students by connecting them with essential resources to help them overcome challenges and thrive academically and personally. Through dedicated site coordinators embedded in Jackson County schools, the organization facilitates access to services such as tutoring, counseling, clothing, food assistance, and family support programs, fostering stronger ties between schools, families, and community partners to address barriers that impact student success.

A key highlight of their community engagement efforts was the third annual Community Resource Day, held on February 10, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ravenswood Middle School. This successful event brought together Jackson County residents and a diverse group of local service providers—including WVU Medicine Jackson General Hospital, Jackson County Library, Good Courage Counseling, Westbrook Health Services, and Workforce Adult Education—allowing families to directly access information on health, education, and support services while promoting collaboration among organizations to better serve the community. With over 100 people in attendance this event was a great success. The CIS team in Jackson County goes above and beyond for their students, families and community every day.
