​​Program Coordinators

​​​​Cynthia SorsaiaCynthia Sorsaia

​​​Cynthia Sorsaia serves as a Coordinator in the Office of Student Supports & Well Being at the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE). ​​​She brings 28 years of experience from the education field with a strong focus on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Literacy. Cynthia is a National Board-Certified Teacher in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts-Early and Middle Childhood. She is one of two Coordinators at the WVDE who support and ensure the Communities In Schools model in West Virginia is implemented with fidelity. Cynthia's current position has provided her a platform to share the many things she has learned throughout her career with those who have direct impact in removing barriers for students across West Virginia.

Tracy Komorowski​Tracy Komorowski

Tracy Komorowski serves as a Coordinator at the West Virginia Department of Education in the Office of Student Support and Well-being. In her role at WVDE, she works primarily on the successful implementation and expansion of Communities In Schools across the state of West Virginia. Tracy has over 18 years of educational and leadership experience in a variety of roles at both the state and local l​evels. She holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development, a master's degree in Literacy Education, and is workin​g towards an Ed. D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a Leadership focus all from Marshall University. She resides in Huntington, West Virginia wi​th ​her husband, their son, and two bad cats.​

Regional Specialists

Erin BoydErin Boyd

​Erin Boyd serves as one of four regional specialists who support Communities In Schools in West Virginia. ​​​She has taught as an elementary, middle, high school, and college teacher and as a school librarian. She has written and had published elementary school history curriculum and served on curriculum and instruction state committees. She holds a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and a master's degree in library science. Advocating for student success and helping students have hope in seemingly hopeless situations brings her joy and satisfaction.

Zachary Hughart​Zachary Hughart

​In September 2021, Zachary Hughart joined the WV Communities In Schools team as a Regional Specialist. His primary goal in his work is to ensure the effective implementation and development of the Communities In Schools program throughout the state of West Virginia. He currently supports and helps oversee program operation in Cabell, Calhoun, Gilmer, Harrison, Jackson, Logan, Marshall, Ohio, Preston, Ritchie, Taylor, and Tyler Counties. He graduated from Marshall University with a BA in Education and an MA in Leadership Studies (Go Herd!). Zach has a strong background in curriculum and instruction and has ten years of educational and leadership experience. Zach was a nominee for Cabell County Teacher of the Year in 2017-18 and he holds a Permanent Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education K-6, Social Studies 5-12, Multi-Categorical (LD, BD, MI) K-12, and a Professional Administrative Certificate (Principal) PK-AD.

Ginny RatliffGinny Ratliff

​​Ginny Ratliff is a regional specialist for WV Communities In Schools. She received her master’s degrees in both social work and public administration from West Virginia University. Ginny is one of four CIS regional specialists, supporting eight counties: Berkeley, Braxton, Brooke, Fayette, Kanawha, Lewis, Morgan, and Upshur. Ginny’s current position allows her to use her knowledge in social work and public administration to support CIS Site Coordinators and the students of West Virginia.

Carla SnellCarla Snell

​​​​Carla Snell serves as a Regional Specialist with Communities In Schools (CIS). Carla has 12 years of experience as a special education teacher and 2 years of experience as a CIS Site Coordinator at Huntingto​n High School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education as well as a master’s degree in Special Education from Marshall University. Carla’s heart is in education, and she enjoys traveling to the different counties and getting to experience CIS across the state of West Virginia. She now resides in Huntington with her husband and their two children, Caydance and Crews, and two rotten dogs, Doofenshmirtz and Darcy.
