A dedicated Communities In Schools team member successfully kept two separate families from remaining on the streets and helped them secure permanent housing. While the families faced homelessness, she quickly arranged temporary safe places to stay and ensured the children attended school consistently by personally providing transportation by picking them up and dropping them off before and after school until reliable bus services could be established.

She worked closely with each single mother, guiding them step-by-step through the complex process of applying for housing assistance, while offering daily coaching, encouragement, and emotional support to both the mothers and their children. Always available, she helped problem-solve a wide range of challenges and barriers they encountered. Today, each family of three lives in their own stable, permanent residence. The students are well-adjusted, happy, attending school regularly, and thriving academically. All of this was accomplished alongside her daily responsibilities as a CIS professional within the school building and demonstrating the profound, life-changing impact of persistent, compassionate support in removing barriers so students and families can succeed.
